UMD Swenson College of Science & Engineering Chemistry M.S. Program

We are currently recruiting for our Fall 2024 Chemistry Master’s cohort! Please forward the information below to your colleagues and any interested undergraduate students in your organization.

Our Chemistry MS program comprises a core group of 31 research faculty working in state of the art research laboratories with all of the resources to pursue cutting-edge research in interdisciplinary chemical sciences. Our program and researchers are focused solely on our Master’s students, so as an MS student you will be working independently on your own research project with personal attention from your faculty research advisor. We have a 100% career placement rate, and our graduates go on to successful careers in industry, high-ranking PhD and professional programs, and work in non-profit or government labs. We focus on personalized, 1-on-1 training of our students, emphasizing critical thinking and scientific curiosity in a welcoming, supportive learning environment, nurturing our students to grow into their scientific careers.

We offer generous compensation packages for all of our students, including:
  • Guaranteed academic year stipend with most of our students also receiving a summer stipend
  • Full tuition coverage
  • Health and wellness benefits
