We are pleased to provide information about Tufts University’s graduate programs in Chemistry, Chemistry-Biotechnology, and Chemical Physics.
Research at Tufts Chemistry. Tufts is a top-tier, R1 research institution located just five miles from Boston, a vibrant city and hub for scientific innovation. Our department is just the right size to combine cutting-edge research with a personalized, student-centered mentoring experience. Our accomplished research groups have a high level of federal funding and explore multidisciplinary approaches across all fields of physical, analytical, inorganic, and organic chemistry as well as computational chemistry, chemical biology, biotechnology, and chemistry education.
Feel supported in your graduate studies. Our MS and PhD programs are focused on an enriching student experience, tailored to the needs and professional goals of each student. We are an ACS Bridge Partner program, part of department-wide efforts to increase equity and inclusion in the chemical sciences. All PhD students are provided a Travel Fellowship to present their research at national conferences. Our seminar program hosts research leaders from academia and industry to connect with our students. Graduate students are active in outreach programs at local schools. Students attend professional development workshops personalized to their chosen career paths. And, graduate students have a close-knit community within the department and in the greater University.
How to Apply. No GRE required. Please check our website for upcoming admissions deadlines and submit your application through our online application portal.
Science snapshots. Our department is continually expanding! Here are research summaries from our three newest tenure-track faculty.
Computational Drug Discovery: The Ding Lab develops transferable force fields for large-scale simulations & to calculate binding free energies. Bioanalytical Chemistry: The Clark Lab develops new approaches to understand the function of RNA modifications in biological systems.
