UChicago Grad Admissions Information

As we prepare for the start of Autumn Quarter later this month, we are pleased to share new degree programs in environmental science, data science, finance, and management, and updates on UChicago's graduate offerings in the humanities and molecular engineering. As faculty, advisors, and mentors to outstanding students at your institutions and organizations, we hope these programs will be of interest to your students, now or in the years to come. Students can find more information about the admissions process, our outstanding PhD funding packages, professional opportunities, and more on each program's website.

Physical Sciences Division (PSD) - Two new programs – a master’s and PhD from the Committee on Data Science – will welcome their inaugural cohorts this month. We will also be accepting applications this year for a new MS in Environmental Science, housed in the Department of the Geophysical Sciences. The program will feature a data science core, capstone project, and opportunities to specialize in areas including climate science, ecology, and environmental policy.

Humanities Division - The renowned Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (NELC) is now the Department of Middle Eastern Studies, which offers both a master's and PhD program. This follows the announcement in 2023 of the renaming of the Oriental Institute as the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures, West Asia & North Africa (ISAC). Application for the MA in Middle Eastern Studies is now exclusively through the Humanities Division.

Booth School of Business - This year, the Booth School welcomes its first cohorts in both the new Master in Finance and Master in Management programs.

Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (PME) - The Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering offers the Master of Engineering (MEng) degree, in addition to doctoral programs in Molecular Engineering and Quantum Science and Engineering (QSE). The Chicago Quantum Exchange (CQE) is based at UChicago, and brings together researchers from Argonne National Lab, Fermilab, leading universities, and corporate and nonprofit partners in this exciting field. The Graduate Admissions office supports prospective students interested in master’s, doctoral, and professional programs across UChicago's graduate schools and divisions. Our website includes a searchable program list to assist students in identifying their best fit, as well as links to the separate application systems for each of the academic units. We look forward to working with your students if graduate study is part of their future plans.
