We are excited to announce that our 2022 NSF REU Program in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the University of Iowa is now accepting applications. We are planning an in-person program on campus from May 30 -July 29, 2022. Applications review will begin on February 11, 2022, so interested students are encouraged to submit their application materials by this date. Please see our website for more information: https://nanotech.uiowa.edu/
We can use your help in forwarding this summer research experience information to undergraduate students majoring in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pre-Pharmacy and related areas.
The goals and objectives of our summer REU program are:
(1) To establish a stimulating research program for undergraduates to participate in a research project focused on the interdisciplinary area of nanoscience and nanotechnology under the direction of a faculty mentor.
(2) To help undergraduate students develop strong nanoscience research and scientific communications skills and to integrate laboratory safety scientific and ethics into their everyday research activities.
(3) To encourage the participation of students who have limited research opportunities and students from underrepresented groups (including women in engineering) through vigorous recruiting efforts.
(4) To encourage REU participants to pursue graduate studies by informing them of opportunities for graduate study and application procedures.
Our REU students’ summer research experience will culminate in their poster participation in a university-wide undergraduate research symposium. See the attached flyer for more information and links to our website (copied above) or send us an email at nano@uiowa.edu.
Thank you!
Ed Gillan, Allan Guymon, Amanda Haes (REU Co-Directors)
