Bristol Myers Squibb in New Brunswick NJ is currently recruiting for their undergraduate Summer Internship program from June 6th to August 12th 2022. The focus of this program is to provide undergraduates with experience in the work of organic chemists in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically process research. Examples of recent publications resulting from this program, with the intern authors highlighted, are listed below:
At present, there are possibilities for both virtual and in-person internships. They had good experiences in 2020 and 2021 with projects that can be performed remotely by focusing on statistics, data science and DFT computations as they relate to process chemistry. But they are optimistic that they will be able to bring students on-site in 2022 and have more traditional, lab-centered projects. The students will conclude the program by presenting an oral summary of their work at a research symposium. In addition to gaining valuable chemistry experience, this program also introduces the students to many parts of the drug development process, including process scale up, analytical chemistry, and drug formulation development. This is a paid summer internship where the student’s wage will be based on their years of undergraduate experience.
If you are or you know an undergraduate with relevant research lab experience that might be interested in this opportunity, please have them email their resumes and a brief research summary to Greg Beutner at Gregory.Beutner@bms.com no later than Monday December 6th, 2021. He will follow-up with a phone interview in January to complete our interview process and use the research summary to frame our discussion.
