2025 Fred Hutch Summer Undergraduate Research Program | Catalog of Biomedical Research Internships

The
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) hosts a summer internship that is designed to provide biomedical research experience and mentorship for undergraduate students of rising senior status. We would appreciate your help promoting the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) among students at St. Olaf College. I have attached an informational flyer that offers an overview of the program and a brief snapshot of important dates below, including how to apply.

About the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP)

  • Attend we
    ekly research seminars;
  • Participate in professional development workshops designed to facilitate the preparation of competitive applications for graduate/medical school; and
  • Present their findings at a competitive poster session.

The program will run from Monday, June 16 – Friday, August 152025An online application for the 2025 SURP is now available on the SURP website.

Other Biomedical Research Internships

I also wanted to share with you a resource that my colleagues and I developed, which is a catalog of biomedical research internships offered nationwide for high school, undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, graduate, and first-year medical students. Feel free to share this resource with faculty and students at your institution.

University of Minnesota Duluth Virtual Chemistry MS Information Session

Greetings from the Chemistry MS program at the University of Minnesota Duluth! We hope that your fall semester has gotten off to a great start. We are excited to be recruiting for our Fall 2025 cohort and invite you to forward this message to students and colleagues.

We will be offering a virtual Chemistry MS Information Session
on Tuesday, November 19 at 12:00 PM (central time).
Register for the virtual info session here!
Our Chemistry MS program comprises a core group of 31 research faculty working in state of the art research laboratories with all of the resources to pursue cutting-edge research in interdisciplinary chemical sciences. Our program and researchers are focused solely on our Master’s students, so they will be working independently on their own research projects with personal attention from faculty research advisors.

We offer graduate teaching assistantships with generous compensation packages, including:
  • Academic year stipend with most of our students also receiving a summer stipend
  • Full tuition coverage (up to 14 credits per semester)
  • Health and wellness benefits
The University of Minnesota Duluth is the second-largest university in the Minnesota University system, and is located on the beautiful western shore of Lake Superior. Duluth, MN, recently voted the best town in America by readers of Outside magazine, contains hundreds of miles of hiking, mountain biking, running, and skiing trails within the city limits as well as beaches, breweries, restaurants, and other cultural activities.

The Department and University strive to attract and retain students and employees with varying identities and backgrounds. Therefore, we especially encourage applications from students who belong to groups traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields.

Applications must be submitted online. Priority deadline January 7, 2025, with applications being considered on a rolling basis thereafter.

Summer undergraduate research at Caltech

Caltech's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is but one manifestation of our commitment to institutional excellence. Diversity is essential to achieving and maintaining scientific excellence.

The WAVE Fellows program supports this goal by increasing visibility and accessibility to Caltech's PhD programs to undergraduates in STEM fields who are seriously considering attending graduate school. WAVE Fellows is a 10-week undergraduate research program that provides robust programming in the areas of academic and professional development.

Eligibility: Students must be current sophomores through non-graduating seniors and must be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or students with DACA status. A minimum GPA of 3.4 is required.

Competitive applicants will have completed sophomore-level courses in desired research field, have demonstrated through academic and/or co-curricular activities a passion for research, and can articulate how their research interests align with Caltech's research areas. The most competitive applicants will have prior research experience.

Support: WAVE Fellows will receive a $6,000 award for the 10-week period, plus campus housing and a dining and travel supplement of ~$1,000.

Application: Online applications are due January10, 2025.

Program information sessions will be held throughout November. Register now!
